Basement Windows

Windows can make your basement more aesthetically pleasing and boost safety. Large basement windows, sometimes called "egress windows," from Pella of Minneapolis are made to let more light into underground areas than the older, smaller, rectangular windows that are put above ground. They also give you an escape in case of an emergency.

The main distinction between basement, or egress, windows and standard windows is that basement windows must be large enough for an average-sized person to make it out in order to meet safety requirements set up in building codes. You can select from appropriately sized casement, sliding or double-hung windows when you put in basement windows. Make certain that you completely understand local building codes before your purchase of basement windows.
